COURT REPORTING
Keeping accurate permanent records and official transcripts of hearings, trials, meetings and mediation in real time speed is a necessity of today's business world and legal system. Iverson Business School and Court Reporting's Court Reporting program is designed to develop student skills in areas such as organization, communication, legal transcription, computers, legal vocabulary, medical vocabulary, litigation procedures, document preparation and development of speed and accuracy that meet Texas State and National Certification standards. Graduates of this program are prepared for entry level positions as professional court/conference reporters with a comprehensive knowledge of office procedures, medical and legal terminology, court systems, medical and legal record keeping, and document preparation.

Program Objective: To develop court reporting students’ machine writing skills to the level required for proficiency, admitting them to the Texas State Certification Test, specifically Question and Answer materials at 225 words per minute. Jury Charge material at 200 words per minute, and Literary Material at 180 words per minute. To provide adequate knowledge of English grammar, spelling, vocabulary, advanced punctuation, law, legal terminology, and current events. To expose students to technical dictation and multi-voice dictation as well as giving them hands-on computer training, building their keyboarding/typing skills to a minimum of 60 words per minute and providing an opportunity for students to intern with practicing reporters. To assist licensed graduates in securing employment.
The approximate amount of time required for completion of the day Court Reporting Program is one hundred-twenty two (122) academic weeks and the evening program is one hundred fifty-two (152) academic weeks
Course Completion dates are subject to attending 20 hours per week days and 16 hours per week nights. Course Completion dates are subject to attending 9 credit hours per term days and 8 credit hours nights.
Academic weeks are defined as actual weeks in attendance excluding holidays, school breaks, and inclement weather days.
